Owing to our rapidly changing lifestyle, issues such as infertility have now become pretty common. Thanks to the advancements in the medical field, it has become easy to deal with this condition. A simple IVF treatment procedure can help you have a child.

However, there are things about this treatment that you may not know. In this article, let’s know more about infertility and its treatment via IVF.

Infertility is:

‘The inability to conceive after 12 months of unprotected intercourse.’ Generally, this condition is common among men and women who are aged 35 and older. Along with age, various factors cause infertility, such as lifestyle, diet, overall health, and more.

However, IVF treatment is an option that can suit most couples today. This treatment makes it possible for a couple to have a baby.

Infertility has become a common condition:

It is noted that 10%-15% of couples face infertility, which makes it one of the most common medical conditions faced by couples aged 30 to 45. Furthermore, the longer the duration for which a woman tries to get pregnant without conceiving, the lower are her chances to conceive without medical help.

Generally, couples with no fertility issues conceive within a year of trying. If this doesn’t happen, then the chance of the couple conceiving gets lower each month.

Fertility treatments are painful, but, just a bit!

There are certain fertility medications which your doctor may prescribe before starting your IVF treatment. Some medicines are to be taken orally, however; other medicines are administered as a shot in the lower abdomen. This may be a tad uncomfortable. However, the intensity of this pain depends on how comfortable you are with needles and shots.

There aren’t many side effects of IVF treatment:

Only the medications administered may create some side effects. One of the common side effects is abdominal cramping. Side effects depend on your overall health too.

IVF can also treat some causes of infertility:

IVF treatment is effective when it comes to treating the various causes of infertility such as:

  • Endometriosis
  • Low sperm counts
  • Problems with the uterus or fallopian tubes
  • Problems with ovulation
  • Antibody problems that harm sperm or eggs
  • The inability of sperm to penetrate or survive in the cervical mucus
  • Poor egg quality
  • The genetic disease that affects the mother or father
  • An unexplained fertility problem

The success rate of IVF is more:

There are various factors which play a crucial role in determining the success rate of an IVF pregnancy. Some of them include the various reasons for infertility too, time of the procedure, and also your age. While there are many medically approved procedures to conceive a child, most fertility hospitals promote IVF treatment. By far, it is considered to be the safest and the most successful medical procedure to conceive a baby.

If you are opting for this treatment, we hope this article comes in handy. Nevertheless, it is best to seek medical advice/ guidance so that you make an informed decision.
